Woiwurrung and Boon Wurrung of the Eastern Kulin Nations

As we emerge alongside the sun, and as the leaves rustle like joyous applause in the gentle summer breeze, join us in solidarity to celebrate and reconnect.

50th Anniversary Exhibition of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy.

On Invasion Day 2022, First Nations Elders, Peoples and accomplices from around so-called Australia will converge to celebrate this iconic site of resistance and sovereignty.

In solidarity, BLACK SPARK Cultural Centre, in collaboration with over 50 artists and musicians, invites you to be a part of the 50th Anniversary Exhibition and Art Auction Fundraiser.

The fundraiser aims to cover the costs of catering for the 2022 convergence at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra. Funds exceeding the catering requirements will be donated to Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance, the Dhadjowa Foundation and Pay The Rent.

We’ve spent the last two months gathering works of First Nations and settler artists and now welcome you in to partake in this wonderful event.
The event will be held in two parts on Saturday 11th of December.

The day will begin with a Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony. Throughout the day there will be talks and performances from:

The 60+ artworks that have been generously donated will all be on display. The online bidding platform will be open prior to the event (date TBA) until 5:30pm on the 11th of December.
Bidding will close at 5:30pm and the event will wrap at 6pm in order to prepare the space for the evening event.

Tea and refreshments will be provided and coffee available by donation. This is an alcohol-free event.
Fingerfood and antipasto will be lovingly provided by Food Not Bombs Melbourne.

An online catalogue of the artworks will be available. Keep an eye on our socials and on this event page for the launch of the catalogue and for more information regarding the bidding platform.

The exhibition will be open for viewing from 12pm-7pm from Monday 6th December until Friday 10th December.

We acknowledge the Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung language groups of the Eastern Kulin Nations on whose unceded lands we exist and resist. We pay respect to their Ancestors and Elders, past and present. Indigenous struggles against the settler-colonial state of so-called Australia are on-going. Sovereignty has never been ceded.

Peace and solidarity,
