Nillumbik Shire Council

Monday, 19 October 2020 - 7:00pm Wurundjeri Country

Have you heard the one about the ant, the bush and the butterfly? Well, it’s no joke for the nationally endangered Eltham Copper Butterfly as it survives in only a handful of locations within Nillumbik and a few elsewhere in Victoria.

Learn about its biology, food preferences and amazing relationship with a species of ant. Also hear about how you can keep the ‘Eltham’ in Eltham Copper Butterfly.

John Harris is the Director and Principal Zoologist and Ecologist with Wildlife & Ecology, an ecological consultancy based in Melbourne.

John and his team coordinate and undertake the yearly Eltham Copper Butterfly caterpillar surveys for Nillumbik and Parks Victoria.
